Relocating with domestic partner to Brazil

monicas5

Hello - would love any insight on this...

My company is considering sponsoring me to work in Brazil so I'd be there on a work visa. How easy would it be for my long-term girlfriend (domestic partner) to move with me as well with a permanent visa?

Hi Monica,

Since you will be here on a Temporary Work Visa your partner would not qualify for a Permanent Visa, but should qualify for a Temporary Visa if you sign a Declaração de União Estável (Declaration of Stable Union). Check with the Brazilian Consulate and see what they say you should do.

Hello Monica,
Wondering how your situation worked out with your girlfriend getting a visa.  I am in a similar situation.  My boyfriend (whom we've lived together for 2 years) is getting relocated to Belo Horizonte for work.  I am trying to figure out how to go along with him since we are not married.  Thanks!
