James

Due to Canada's high standards for medical personnel and depending on where you have taken your nursing training you may have to go back to school in Canada and start your training all over again. Most universities and many major hospitals in Canada have a School of Nursing if you are looking to become a Registered Nurse (RN). If you want a shorter course you could consider taking a Registered Nursing Assistant (RNA) course. Traditionally RNAs work both in hospitals and nursing homes, they perform most of the same duties as a Registered Nurse with the exception of having the ability to administer certain meds, typically IV injectables. They do receive training for sub-cutaneous injections of insulin.

First of all you will need to find out from the hospital if your nursing degree is recognized by the Canadian government.
