Time for a dip.

I decided it is time to hit the beach tomorrow.

I have a simple question: where to go?

Don't have any special needs, a bit of shade would be nice (which is kind of a special need in Kuwait I guess) and at least moderately clean.

Fire away!

SportsMan

Interesting question Rib as I have been asking the same for the last couple of years.

Here are some thoughts though:

1. Not recommended to swim anywhere between Kuwait City and Fahaheel - if you've ever taken a walk anywhere on the Gulf Road/Fahaheel, guess you'd figure out why.
2. Good luck in finding a place between Fahaheel and the Saudi border - all 90km of it, meter by meter,  has been built up with private chalets, with no public access to the beach.
3. What's left is the recent development in Khiran but slowly but surely this is being taken up and fenced off, also ignoring the fact you have a mega power station just 1km away blowing megatons of smoke, and good luck if you happen to be standing downwind with the smoke blowing over and around you :D

.... but in case you are brave enough to trespass through private chalets on the grounds that the use of the shoreline is  a common resource for the population to use, do watch out for the kind souls riding their jet skis in circles around you oblivious to anyone else :D

Any other ideas besides hiring a boat and heading off to the islands?

Of course it had to be a muddy rain day today. That's my life. :)

not @ all Lebexpat

SportsMan

Hey lexpat,

Read my above post. I said that anything from KUWAIT CITY, ALL THE WAY TO FAHAHEEL, is NOT recommended to swim. Because you see people in the water on the weekend and the usual blokes entertaining themselves going round in circles for endless hours, doesn't mean the water is clean. If you choose to swim anywhere there, you do at your own risk.
Suggest you do take a walk anywhere on the gulf road on different days, at different hours, so you will experience different weather patterns and currents, and what it will bring in....  and you will see why.

In any case, good luck

lebexpat

well obviously its not recommended :) so let's stick to the clubs or khiran as u mentioned anything specific there?

lebexpat

Ras el ard club is 4 families only!
