I would like to share with you my experience of an incident which happened with my freind
Last night, on 12th April.2013, around 9.30 in the night I went to super market (near NOOR Masjid) to purchase the milk. As I was on the way to the shop all of sudden a 4-wheel drive vehicle probably PRADO approached me and almost pushed me to the wall .Then all of sudden a person projecting himself as a religious Police responsible caught my hand and started questioning that " Whether I smoking CHARAS  (at that time I was smoking my regular cigarette).  I told him that NO, this is a normal cigarette only and then he started smelling my hands (like a sniffer dog) also took my other hand and did the same.
All the time he was asking me WALLAHI MAFI CHARAS, ANTA MUSLIM (really you don't smoke Charas, are you Muslim).Even he started smelling my KURTA (I was wearing Awami at that time), then he ask me who is the Pakistani here use Charas? I replied him How come I know?
Then he ask me, Are you a Pakistani? I said No, I Am Indian. Then he ask me "Wallahi anta mafi kazzab (are you lying). I told him why should I tell a lie? Then he ask me to show the Iqama (meanwhile he was pretending himself as a religious police, and he was having a walky-talky device type of instrument ).
I take out my wallet and shown him the Iqama by holding the wallet in my hand, he started smelling the wallet, then he took out the Iqama from the wallet, and started smelling it too. I was holding the wallet in my hand, then he ask me to show the other papers inside the wallet, I show him the money by removing it out from the wallet he took the money and started smelling it too, and he was keep on asking me do you smoke CHARAS? Then he put back the money inside my wallet and returned it back, then he fled.
After he left,  I thought of putting back my money properly inside the wallet AND I was shocked after realizing that 5 bills of 500 and 1 bill of 100 were missing from it and only 10's, 5's and 1's bills was left.
I don't know when he drop the 500 bills on his lap and kept the remaining in my wallet and returned it back to me. He took SR 2600 from me by cheating me.
I believe, I did the mistake of showing him my Iqama and allowed him to check my Iqama and wallet.

It's lesson for every expatriate that No body should allow any other person to check your wallet or IQAMA unless you are sure that, he is a legitimate person from Saudi agencies. I hope none of my friend would any time encounter this situation and loose our hard earned money.

Please be clear that SOME (not all) Saudi people are a-holes.  There is good and bad everywhere.  Some Pakistanis are a-holes.  Some Americans are a-holes.  Some Indians are a-holes. And so on.

Our disadvantage in this country is that many expats are afraid of the authorities (usually with good reason) and it leaves us vulnerable to this kind of intimidation (thus easy marks).
