For those living in Chile, is anybody concerned about the number and occasionally the intensity of the earthquakes that i have heard occur pretty frequently there?  I live for a while in California and experienced a few minor ones, but it was never a big deal.

Not really a major worry. Just take a look at the Feb 2010 quake and the relative low number of fatalities. Make sure you are prepared and make sure you are living in a properly built structure.
