We are moving to Brussels and my kids have been wait-listed at Lycee francais. They are already scholarised there and moved twice country with no fuzz, this time we are having it difficult. So we are strongly considering BSB. The problem is that since we have already signed the contract for a house in the Cavell area,it was the ideal location for everyone at home. Now I am facing the situation to have to drive them to BSB as of september. The bus takes long time, so it is out of the question. Any idea at how long does it take to drive those 15K in the morning between Cavell and BSB?

It s not easy to answer. Without upsetting you. You should never sign a contract in Brussels without confirming school places.

Rue Cabell in uccle to ban will be about an hour, I know a family do that route for a clue of years , 4 hours a day and finally it was enough.

Local schools but you chose one of the worst areas to live as local schools so oversubscribed.

Why ban?

Thanks so much for the orientation:)
Well! Everything looked very certain since the kids have been at LF in different corners of the world. Besides we are coming back to our former neighborhood.
Local Schools are out of the question for us, due to the flexibility we need. They did maternelle at a Belgian School and was the best choice we ever made at that time indeed. Now I have to be  positive and tackle the conmuting no matter what, the School seems worthwhile anyway:)

What flexibility would BSB give that a local school could not give? Knowing both systems and many in both, flexibility has never come into the equation as an advantage to BSB.

You will soon have not only a one hour drive, the road outside BSB will soon close Leuven direction, so add on a 1km walk as you'll have to park before the fountain or as close to the school as you can get, I'd recommend walking the back route through the park. Add on a further 15 minutes, making a total of 5 hours commute per day. Personally I'd forfeit the house penalty or look elsewhere for a school.
