Nice to meet u all:)
I am a local n would like to make more fds
How do u feel when u get along with locals?
What cultural differences do u find?

My English is not too gd
so i hope i can meet more fd online who r native English speaker
to know more abt English

I rarely make fd online so plz forgive my shyness

HaileyinHongKong

The biggest cultural difference I've noticed is how they abbreviate even the smallest words for no reason.

What is "fds", aside from the florist?

mandymandy

You don't use short form in your Internet language(slang)?

princess sandra

hello Mandy,

how are you? we can learn english together as my english also not pretty good :(

mandymandy

oh nice!how do you think about this forum?
I am new user to this forum.
Btw,You look kind^^

Aurélie

Hello mandymandy.

Welcome to Expat.com!

You should avoid sms language so as to facilitate the reading. ;)

Thank you,
Aurélie

Do people usually use formal language in forum?
What is the difference between the language use in forum and sms language?
This is because it is very usual to use sms language in Hong Kong forum.
Sorry for not knowing that. And thank you for your remainder .^^

HaileyinHongKong

No one here uses formal English.  Most of the people here are not native English speakers and would probably be confused by formal English.

If you want people to understand what you're saying, it's better to type in English - or whatever language you're typing in.

Hey Mandy,
Hi Sandra and Hailey by the way ^^
I just arrive in HK and don't really know how things are going on right here. So if you have some advice, or want to take a drink somewhere or visit any place, just let me know we can do that together :)
I speak French and Thai fluently, English and Spanish a bit.

Good night ladies
Sophie.

mandymandy

Hi cazenave. You can go shopping at Forever21 where selling young clothes at a inexpensive price.
You can find Forever21 in Causeway Bay.
If you want to take a drink you can go to Lan Kwai Fong where is a section in Central district with many bars and restaurants.

Mandy

mandymandy

if you need more information or would like to do activities together ,you may send a message to me.
I may do that with you if i am free^^
How long will you stay in HK?
I think I may have more free time in July or August:)

Hi everyone... I'm always up for sharing great craft beer... Cheers

David

Hi @Zipzip, @Hkjny,

Please can you introduce yourself?

Regards,

David.

Hkjny

Hey gang, my name is Johnny, I come from Orlando Florida and Denver Colorado. I'm importing amazing craft beer from the states and some hard to get boutique wines. Would be nice to get to know some like minded people to hang out with. Kinda like barstool philosophy lol

Hi Mandy,

Do you have any recommendations for places to go sightseeing or walking around?  I've been to the Peak, Tsim Sa Tui, Mongkok. I'm looking for something scenic and away from the crowds.

Thanks

HaileyinHongKong

Tai Tam Bay is pretty scenic.
