Hi I am Roslyn from Canada. I was wondering which is the best city to work in Nigeria? Which would be the most accommodating to a foreigner who is there by themselves as so I'm not taken advantage of? I know that no place is crime free but I'm just wondering where is the safest place? I appreciate any feedback.

ishc

hi mate welcome to Nigeria
cheers

@ Roslyn send me a message on here let have a chat i m in Nigeria and from Nigeria

Camilletolu

Hi Roslyn. Abuja or Lagos. Lagos is much safer at the moment. If you do choose Lagos the best fit for your description would be Ikoyi or Victoria Island and maybe the Lekki Axis. Goodluck with your decision.

Hi All,

I am an American from Florida.  I will be in Nigeria for work in July or August.  Initally I will be there for 4 months but the project will last for three years and I will be back and forth a lot.  I am told it is in the Port Harcort area.  I just wanted to say hello and try and learn about the country and culture.  I have one question right off.  Is there a way to pick up American television programming there?  I am sure I will have many more questions as time moves on.  Thank You!

Dave

Christine

@Capt.Mahbub - please start a new topic on the Lagos forum. Thank you.

Camilletolu

@ Capt.Mahbub

Yes you can. Lagos is a safer option than Port Harcourt, although Port Harcourt has been pretty safe in recent times it is not a place to let your guard down and companies usually provide good security, secure accommodation and transportation with escort services in that area. I wouldn't advise that you go to Port Harcourt without these things in place although like I said it is relatively safe now. As for Lagos you will have no problems as long as you are security conscious and alert like you should be in any major city. Keep your travel documents and valuables close and you will be fine.

Yes there is Dstv in Nigeria where u can watch all your American channels and your favourite movies and sitcoms. Lagos, PH and Abuja is the best cities to be in Nigeria. Lagos is the place with all the fun, beaches, private beaches with pools, mask club and all that.

ishc
