Evening all,

Hope you are all enjoying it over there in Guangzhou.

I joined this site as I have just been offered a teaching position there starting in August. I have recently qualified to TEFL, and decided to give up my 9-5 and do something interesting with my life.

Having read some of the posts it is reassuring to see there is lots of people over there looking to make new friends.

I am a 28 male, from Bournemouth in the UK, I love sport, music, and travel.

Would love to hear peoples thoughts on the city, and whether or not i should sign up and head over...

Best Wishes

Adam

Have you visited China before? If not you could be in for quite a culture shock.:/.... but it's a great place to live.

Did you sign?
I'd definitely say make the move and give it a shot. My only thing would be make sure you're getting a decent deal. The companies that recruit from overseas have a tendency to go one of two ways - either pay reeeeally well, or reeeeally badly. I find it better to rock up and find work once you've arrived. Best way to be able to check out the school etc before agreeing to a contract. But, that said, i'm a backpacker, and happy to rock up anywhere and if it doesn't suit me, move on and see if the next place does. Some ppl need more security/stability than that I know. But packing in the day job and coming to teach in Asia is definitely worth it!! :-)

Curious to know how do you organise your Z visa once you are in China?
