Hi i'm looking for a spacious apartment in a decent area in riyadh.. I've been looking around for weeks most of the people i call who have something to offer speak only arabic so its very difficult to communicate and try and understand the location. And being new here I dont really know which area is safe and decent. Just to give you an idea I'm looking gor something around 30k a year with min 2 bedrooms and would be great if its near muraba but i dont mind getting further away if its a decent location and flat... Most of the places i've seen are either awfully built of insanely small...

What are your means of searching? Is it the couple of popular websites?

The most effective way here is to drive to areas you'll like to live in (Olaya and Sulaimania are pretty good if you want to stay close to Murraba), and talk to the real estate office persons. As they speak Arabic predominantly, having an Arabic speaking colleague along is a good idea.

Hi thanks for the quick reply. I'm mainly searching wesites mostly through expatriates.com but a lot of people are telling me that most of the available spots aren't websites arent posted online. But I cant find a real estate agent near Olaya and Moroba.

@TFS, Ghadeer area is some 20km away from the area he has mentioned and traffic through Malik Fahad Road is always rushy esp during the peak hours. Not recommended at all.

That website has, unfortunately, some constraints with respect to housing ads that makes it useless for many (including me) :(

For example:
- It's maintained by people and that also from mainly from Wazarat, Malaz & Batha. You'd rarely see ads from other areas.

- People put ads on purpose. Someone wants to sell his old household items alongwith the house, someone is looking for reimbursement for his paid rent money. This further reduces the possibility of getting a decent house from that site.

There are so many real estate offices in the city. At least 7-8 in the Morabba area I personally know of. I can see you are from pk and must be able to read Arabic. Aqar (عقار) is your word to look for on the sign-boards.

That's great insight thanks a lot. Would you happen to have the numbers of any of these aqars.

There is a guy named Mohammed (yeah, I know--most guys are named Mohammed lol) in the EB housing classifieds.  He seems to be very 'in the know' regarding available apts.  You should look him up and give him a call!

(I think it's this guy: Mr Mohammed 0562353239)
