Mediator

Hi,

I currently live in Johannesburg.  I would like to move to Canada.  I have so many questions.  I am not even sure where in Canada is best.  I have a 9yr old son and so I am concerned about education and living conditions suitable for a child his age.  Firstly, I need a job which I guess will determine in Canada where I end up living but do not want to respond to jobs in an area where my son won't be comfortable.

I think the weather is bothering me the most although I don't mind the cold, I do not want to be somewhere which is freezing most of the time.  How do South African expats deal with the weather in Canada?

I look forward to connecting with some expats in Canada. :-)

Dear Aurélie,

Thank you so much!

Hello Mediator,

Well, if you don't want someplace that has freezing cold winters then you're pretty much limited to Vancouver. The winters there are more moderate than other cities. Unfortunately, Vancouver is also the most expensive place in Canada in which to live.

Other than that, it is really paradise on Earth, so it's well worth the added expense.

Hi William,

Thanks for the reply.  That is valuable information to me as everytime you search for a job you have to state the area.  I already knew that Edmunton was too cold.  I will start my search in Vancouver then!  It is a start :-).

I will be back here from time to time and let everyone know what is happening.  I need to look at school's etc.

Kind regards
Mediator
