Paul,

You will first need to obtain a work visa.  You will first need a contract to obtain the work visa.  You can check out different Teaching Abroad websites to help locate a school, but depending on your age / qualifications it can be very difficult because many people want to work in Colombia teaching English for 6 to 12 months.  So schools that are looking for teachers receive many applications.  Those that would hire a teacher but are not actively looking for a teacher are extremely difficult to contact (because they are super busy).

Just a FYI the average pay for a full time teacher is about 1,400 COP.  This will change upon location and experience or teaching certificates you might have.

Good luck and be sue to post more questions if they should arise.
