Does anyone know what the rules are for vaccinations in CR for residents?  I heard it's mandatory, and they'll force them on children in school and such.  For those of us opposed to vaccines, this would potentially be a dealbreaker.  Thanks.

Costa Rica does have compulsory vaccinations for children. There is a fairly recent story about a family who lived in Puriscal who had their home invaded and robbed and their family threatened and this was by officials. The family had their lives ripped apart. According to the blog they kept about what was going on, one of the children was killed while being pursued by the officials of the town and they did not want to release the child's body to her mother. You can read the full story by clicking the following link:

All public schools require a legally translated  copy of the child's medical and school records showing that all inoculations are up to date.
Not all private schools have this requirement.
