Having spent some time in The Gambia I have, perhaps, fewer illusions about the reality of life there. The smiling coast hides well the dull eyes of misery and the growling belly of hunger. I chanced upon a blog today, however, which is clearly written by someone with great experience of The Gambia, its ex-pat community and those smiling friendly Gambians. Or perhaps the blogger is a disillusioned failure at the laid back lifestyle. I suspect a direct link might no be welcome here but suffice to say I found it first time with a Google search for "gambiaescapee"
