King Abdullah, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has extended by four months the amnesty period for undocumented expatriates in the Kingdom to correct their status. A royal order carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Tuesday said the original three-month grace period, which ends on July 4, will be extended to the end of the current Hijra year 1434, equivalent to Nov. 4, 2013.

Yes. Sigh of relief for many.

Better late than never, but why would they wait until only 48 hours before the deadline?

TheLegendLeads

They didn't want people go lethargic ;)

And it's the way it always is here--tension and stress (at my job, we never know until the last minute that everything has been approved for our annual leave  ).

Ditto. Making any plans / decisions becomes difficult because of this.
For this reason, I never do my vacation shopping until I'm almost certain of receiving the approvals.

I always do it the other way round ;)
The first thing I do is to *reserve the air flights* (My way to twist arms). Works for me always :)

I've done that, too ... and it didn't twist anybody's arm!  I had even MORE tension that I'd be out my plane fare! :P

Yes, this time I've booked my tickets. Got a good deal too. :)
The ball is in their court now.

i wish they had conditions on the extension.  like people that have already started the process two weeks prior to the deadline get the extension, but everyone else is punished.

its just going ot keep going on like a big joke now
