Whats the word on retailers shipping overseas? generally. Is this not cost prohibited and therefore people don't buy online? or are most items already available in Hungary?  Vitamins, supplements, cosmetics.

I will be missing a Whole Foods there I guess. Anything close to scale of USA  Wholefoods?

I have no problem ordering many things from the US.

But food and supplement regulations are quite strict in the EU. So shipping into the EU is a landmine area "not worth it" for many companies unless they have a brick and mortar presence in an EU country. Not to mention the VAT tax issue (another land mine area not worth it for US companies).

For example, when I was living in Switzerland, I wanted to get some Goldenseal for a bad cold I had. It was not an option in any Swiss Pharmacy. And the Swiss have all sorts of phytotherapy remedies you can by over the counter. Goldenseal is a North American plant and they simply did not import it. Not at all. I know, I really tried to get them to offer it. I ended up using Thyme instead at their recommendation. When in "Rome" one must do as the Romans do.....

True of many things:

In short, it is Europe. Not the US.

Of course that works both ways. For example, it is not allowed to import many Italian cured meats because of USDA regulations.
