Short Term Rentals - Manaus

Post new topic

usmc_mv

Does anyone have any ideas on where I could possibly rent an apartment (month-to-month) preferably furnished? WITH Air Conditioning. Any safe barrio in Manaus is fine, centro would be ideal. I do not want to do an extended stay in a hotel.

Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt-

Hi Matt,

Short-term rentals are almost impossible to find in Brazil since the laws regarding rental changed a few years ago and require all rental contracts to be of a thirty month duration. If you're trying to find something through a realtor then they will all insist on that.

The only other alternative is to try and find a rental direct with the owner of a property which involves a lot of leg work, since you'll need to wander or drive around a neighborhood that interests you looking for signs "Aluga-se trata com proprietário" or something similar. Even then you'd have to probably offer to pay cash, in advance for the duration of the time you intend to rent in order to convince the owner to rent for short terms. However, furnished apartments are almost unheard of in Brazil.

The only real alternative you have if you need something furnished is look around for an inexpensive Pousada (guest house) and see if they have a monthly rate. Good luck house hunting.
