How to get to Hong Kong from Guangzhou?

Hi everybody!

I would like to travel to Hong Kong from Guangzhou.
Do you know where I can get tickets and whether I need to buy them in advance?

Also, I have read that passengers need to get to the departure station in advance in order to go through border formalities, but it is not clear to me how much earlier than the departure time.

Can you help me?

You can buy the train ticket at the railways station (Guangzhou East Station). There's no need to buy in advance, but for peace of mind, it may be better to buy the ticket the day before you travel to HK. From memory, the train ticket is about RMB 190.

You need to be at the station about an hour before departure to clear immigration (it closes around 20 minutes before the train departs). Train time Guangzhou East to HK is 2 hours.
