Hello RAK friends,

Can anyone put me in the direction of a property agent for rentals in RAK?

My friend is looking to move to RAK in September and would like to start thinking about living arrangements - my husbands company arranged our accommodation so I haven't any contacts?

A villa or townhouse is what they're looking for.

Thanks for your help :)

There is Hunt & Harris located in Al Hamra Mall (website has details of the available properties) and Yahia at Sherwoods, his mobile 050-9220 514
Another option is to use dubizzle.com
Always worth checking out the various options and choices. Good Luck.

Unfortunately real good and reliable real estate agents don't run on the street in RAK!

At least make sure that the rental contract proposed is a legal one on the official forms!

Depending on what you're looking for (townhouse or appartment), check the running rental prices.

For our townhouse which consists of :

- groundfloor : large living/dining, open kitchen and visitor's toilet, large backgarden and front paved courtyard and open garage
- first floor : master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, 2 bedrooms sharing a bathroom and one office/playroom, front and back balcony
- second floor : maidsroom or spareroom with ensuite bathroom and large roof terrace

we pay (or rather my husband's employer): 75 000 AED per year.

My son was previously living in Royal Breeze II in a 2 bedroom appartment and the company was paying 45 000 AED a year.

Now he is in a townhouse (without the second floor) and is paying 65 000 AED a year.

The word is NEGOTIATE!

Cheers

Dear Arlette,

Thank you for sharing. I am also searching for townhouse or flat approx for 70,000. I had already contact with Tom by email. As I am not in the country yet, it is difficult. I will move end of August, with my two kids.
I will work in Dubai.A lot of people say it is too far, but also a lot of say it is do-able.

I need all the information that i can get. I will not move for short term but for the long term and with my two children.

Hi All

Just joined the forum.

Moving to RAK for 3 years from Adelaide, South Australia.
Starting a RAKFTZ company.
Currently at City Hotel until I find an apartment.
Looking for a list of reliable real estate agents to help find a 1 or 2 bedroom furnished apartment.
Have a car and local sim card / mobile number.

Any help and advise most appreciated.

Hello Greg and welcome to lovely RAK!
There are quite a few furnished apartments at Al Hamra, plus you have the chance of having all the village facilities on offer here such as the Marina, Mall, hotel restaurants/bars, golf club to name a few, there's plenty of socialising!
Hunt and Harris have an office on the 1st floor in Al Hamra mall. Look also on Dubizzle where many owners advertise [moderated]
Check out several of the agents as the agency fees and rents can vary greatly (and are both negotiable)!

Hi SushiFee

Thanks.

In the car shortly and on the way to the Al Hamra mall. Any other estate agent there?

Greg

Hi Greg and welcome in AH Community and of course on rax-expats :)

First of all, let me tell you to be cautious real estate agents in Al Hamra as they don't understand their profession in the same way they would in our countries back home!

Many only are interested to find renters/buyers and afterwards you get no more service from them (I speak of experience unfortunately).

Before making you sign a contract they should produce a receipt from previous tenant/occupant that all utilities have been paid for (many new tenants are complaining about high utility bills on their first month of occupation and this is due to the fact that previous occupant didn't pay his last bill).

Also you should make sure that owner is going to make all repairs /painting jobs, etc before you enter the villa and this is the job of the real estate agent.

He should also always be the intermediary between you and the landlord.

As I said in my previous message above, I have a good agent, Tom, of which I can give you contact details as well as another lady. If you wish I'll PM you about it.

Let me know.

Also if you need more info, don't hesitate to ask :)

Cheers

Hi Arlette,

Thanks for the advise. Nice to not have to reinvent the wheel. Your points are well received.

Yes please PM me the contact details for Tom and the other lady.

Have seen a 2 bedroom x 3 bathroom, big balcony with total sea views in Al Hamra. Was quoted 55k AED fully furnished plus utilities.

All rooms seemed a bit small but then I'm comparing to an Aussie house. Maybe that is normal?

Sorry for late reaction Greg. I have been a bit tied up this afternoon. Will send you PM now
