Twan

Hello Sanchit12,
A student visa does not normally allow you to work. Even if your work is an integral part of your study, you'll have to apply for a permit.

If you want to work, you need a permit to stay that allows you to work. It does not matter how long you have stayed in Switzerland already.

If you're not Swiss and not from the EU/EFTA zone, following rules will apply:
- your employer has to prove that he cannot find anyone from Switzerland or from the EU/EFTA zone for the job before he can offer it to you.
- quota apply, that is: there is a maximum number of work permits granted per year.

More info you'll get from the Swiss Migration Department at
http://www.bfm.admin.ch/

Hope this helps,
Twan.
