I am brand new to Madrid and looking for some friends to hang out with.

I'm 20, from the Sates (Michigan), and am a student of Spanish and Hispanic Studies at Nebrija until June.  I am into the night life, live music, dancing, afternoon coffee, theatre, bookstores, exploring, and lot of other things.

drop me a line, yeah?

Hola Ada,

My name is Henrique and I have just moved to Madrid from Lisbon (Portugal), March 19th.

If you live in Madrid and like going out and do something fun, do get in touch and share some.

Either to go and eat some tapas, dance some salsa or kizomba or just do some sport, the imagination is the limit, since I have a passion for life and am always eager to try new things.

Anyway… just smile, you are in Madrid :)

Saludos
Henrique

Welcome to Madrid, my fellow Midwestern!! I'm from Ohio - that state down south. ;)

I'd be happy to meet with you but my advice is to concentrate on making Spanish friends instead of American ones. It's those Spanish people who'll make your experience here a richer one. Through them you'll really learn about Spain and what it's like to live here. You're staying only a few months so please do make the most of it. Afterall, you'll be surrounded by Americans when you get back.

I, an American Expatriate, have been living in Madrid for 4.5 years and don't have a single American friend. In fact, it was a choice I made at the beginning. I do, however, have one good British friend but the rest are Spaniards. Being an American, our culture is inescapable in the world what with the fast foods, series television and Hollywood movies, and not to mention daily news about American politics and policies. Sure, that's comfortable for an American visiting Spain but it doesn't help you to get to know SPAIN while living here. Make the most of it!!!

Saludos, MadridMan @ http://MadridMan.com!

Hi Ada. First off, welcome to Madrid! J&J Books and Coffee is a great place to meet expats and Spaniards for language exchanges. It's on Espiritu Santo, 47 in the Malasaña district. Have a wonderful time here! Some more general information about Madrid can be found here: Guide to Madrid.

I will also be moving to Madrid from the states, by myself. Please, send me a message if you know of any places to meet people or places to check out. I am still looking for somewhere to live that is affordable, safe, near a metro and people who can speak english and help me with my spanish and become familiar with the country. I will be living in Madrid for a year! So send me a message :)
