Italian Driving License

Hi Guys,

I've got many different opinions on this topic and would like to get to the bottom of it.

I'll be coming to Australia for my honeymoon in November and I'll have to drive on the East coast, in the state of Queensland, from Aerlie Beach to Brisbane, nowhere else.

I own an Italian driving license and my Latvian wife a German one.
Can we drive in there with them or do we need to have an International Driving License?
I've also been told that a simple English translation might be enough. Would this need a signature from a notary?

Can you make some light in this mess for me, please? :D

Thanks a lot in advance.

Kind regards,
Federico

I take you will be hiring a car ?? If so ask the hire company what they require with regard to licences.

If you are using a private car go online to the Queensland govt transport department website for information.

Or simply Google search for the info.

You just need to get your driving licence translated by a certified translator. You can get it translated into English too but it should be translated by a certified translator then you wont need to get it notarized.

Hi,

I went to Australia last November.

After collecting many opinions, I didn't do anything, used my Italian driving license and it went just fine.

Regards,
Federico
