Hello
I recently moved to Morocco and I have a problem with my mobile phone . I can't receive any text messages from abroad .
I have 2 phone no. from 2 different providers but they both don't work . I can call and receive messages from people in Morocco but not from the ones abroad . I tried a different phone and still no joy . I called the service provider but they had no idea what is the problem . I find it odd since they can call me but not text me ?! did any one ever encounter this problem ?? Thank you .

James

Hi Melek A,

I don't know about Morocco specifically, but in many countries you actually need to contact your service provider in order to activate international calls and SMS services. They all have their own regulations and other regulations imposed upone them by government agencies that oversee telecommunications services.

If you can't make outgoing international calls this is surely what your problem is. If you can make outgoing international calls it might still be that you need to activate SMS service, especially if there is some billing to your number for messages you receive.

Contact your service providers, they will be the ones who can give you a satisfactory explanation. It might even be that foreign SMS messages are blocked for some political reasons, who knows?

Google is a mysterious, positively enigmatic thing that is really hard to use; if you can find it at all on the internet.

That in mind; perhaps I should tell the OP the answer to his question but I'm a bad tempered, nasty person so I won't.

It took me about 30 seconds to find out.

Google is hard to spell in Chinese.

Hi wjwoodward
thank you for the answer . I tried to call but they said I should check my message centre number which was ok. I can call and send text messages with no problem anywhere regardless of the country but I can't receive text messages from abroad . this is my only problem . the numbers of my friends receive messages but mine no. I don't know if I should try a different operator or not . I know I can chat on the net all I want but some people just like to text

Give someone the answer and they'll ask another simple question.
Teach a man to google and he won't need to ask again.

Teach a man to Google and you'll never get his ass off the computer.
