Irish citizen - psychology graduate - employment opportunities

Post new topic

KelPetit

Hi everyone,

It's great to be able to get some much info from this blog. I am Irish, married to a Mauritian. Moving to Mauritius is always in the back of my mind and I was wondering if someone has advice for me. I've read all the threads about cost of living and taxes etc. I'm pretty familiar with Mauritius and locations. I would like more information on job opportunities for a psychology graduate. I have limited French and creole but would be willing to learn the language quickly.

Thanks everyone

karen

Hello KelPetit.

Welcome to Expat.com :)

You may consult this page --> Healthcare job offers in Mauritius or even post your resume/CV there.

Perhaps this article might help --> Finding a job in Mauritius.

Thanks and best of luck.

Danke Mario :-)

I will have a go and see how much I can improve my French over the next few weeks.

Wow, your exactly in the same spot as me. In from the UK. Have a 2:1 in psychology and will be moving to join my mauritian fiancé in Flacq on the east side of Mauritius to learn Creole and French. It looks hard as its all totally tourism and everyone knows three languages. Ill keep login on and looking to see how ur getting on.

How many times have you been? What areas of work are you planning on going into?

I was wondering how you register as a counsellor etc in Mauritius. :/

KelPetit

I've no idea. If you do find out, you might share it on here. Much appreciated:-)

Everytime I try and search the internet about it,I just basically end up with the University of Mauritius psychology department :P

KelPetit

I was exactly the same. It was driving me mad. The college is the only thing that comes up no matter what you google,

KelPetit

I came across this company which may be of help. Registered psychologist in Mauritius m.facebook.com/page/about.php?id=563802403638255&__user=1360183977

And Mauritian psychologists

If am not mistaken there is also the Mauritian Psychological Society which is a representative body for psychology and psychologists in Mauritius that would be worth contacting for more info.

KelPetit

There is, but I can't find contact information for them.
