Has anyone complained about the dangerous on and off ramps for the hydrofoils? Someone is going to get hurt or killed. Who to complain to, the tourist authorities or the marine police?

It seems that the owners and staff don’t care or there is nothing they can do as I’m sure there have been hundreds of complaints.

Can we chip in and buy or make a ramp with handrails?

You should be more worried the ancient, poorly maintained pieces of junk will sink or break down and be a drift for hours. Look at Viet Week for recent articles.

Take a bus. It's half the price and not much more time.

Its actually double the time on a bus, 3 hours on a bus. Nothing will be done till someone dies, the government has no control over anything except people who speak out against them. These boats are not safe and the local authorities know it, but do nothing about it.

thanks guess hydrofoil is off my list of to do things in Vietnam.

I've ridden the ferries twice a month for the last 4.5 years and have had one 1 mechanical breakdown which required us to change boats. I know there have been more such incidents and a couple accidents in that time but if you compare how many people die in bus and van wrecks between Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City each year I would much rather ride the ferry.
