Moving to Saudi - What to take

Hi Everyone,

I am moving to Riyadh, this will be my first time living there. So if you could give me some advice regarding what to take with me I will appreciate it. What items are essential or cannot be bought or are difficult to buy in Saudi Arabia and what items would be good to bring with me.

Also what paperwork should I bring with me? Original or copies?

Hello,

Riyadh is quite a large city and you will find most of what you may need.

However, I recommend taking the following with you on your way here,
1- Bring a credit card for you for online purchases, in case you don't to want for three months probationary time to until you could apply for one here. Souq is an a local eBay like website where you could buy things not available here.

2- Bring your laptop and most of your electronic devices, the ones that you spent lots of time and money collecting your desired products in. I recommend not to bring illegal items as there is a chance you may get caught and be severally punished.

Things to keep in mind:
1-You could purchase even musical instruments in Riyadh and Jeddah, as well as laptops, Apple products, Walkmans, DVD players, Dish Satellite receiving-boxes, Console games, etc., so don't worry.

2- The postal services could be whether slow or very expensive, so bring on items you absolutely are sure you cannot wait two weeks to get, an example I would assume your PC.

Welcome to Saudi in advance.
Riyadh is the capital and the largest in Saudi so it won't be a problem to find anything you may need, but I suggest you list everything you may need and we can tell you if you would find it here or not.

My pleasure,

I would bring my Birth Certificate, Medical records (Vaccination Records and Medical tests), immigration documents (Passports, A copy of Application forms, Residence address information [English, and Saudi, if available], any documents which may have been handed by the embassy, Employer location information, your CV).
