Hi
Just wanted to know if anyone else has come across bogus carvsales persons who are not in the country but have rep here and that before looking at the car a western union cheque is show, or are given what looks like a well drafted responee to enquiries.
They seem legitimate till the email responses come through.
I happened upon 2 in my search for a car one through the expat clasdified.
Just my luck. Did the newspaper majority no answers.oh well.
Any advide appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,

Just seen quite a few warnings on Fb from people calling for cautiousness about this. These are common examples of scams going on over the internet where they ask for advance cash payments just to see the car (which you'll of course never see).

Noone in his sound mind would do an advance (or even 100%) payment before actually seeing a car to buy, but a few credulous people, attracted by the low prices could fall into the trap.

To buy a second-hand car, nothing is better than going in person to see the car, check the papers and bring a mechanic along before deciding!
