Hello,

I am going to Rio next June / July 2014 and I am looking for information on renting either a room or a small apartment near Copa Cabana.

I would appreciate your feedback regarding how common it is for landlords to do short terms rent to foreigner, or would you say it is better to look for a roommate add?. I will be looking to either enroll in Portugues lessons or even an internship if possible as I am into Electronics Engineering.

Thank you!

Henry.

Hello Henry,

You're going to find it nearly impossible to find anything of the kind anywhere in Rio during that time period. All available short-term rental (which by the way are extremely rare in Brazil) have been booked long ago because of the World Cup. Even hotels and pousadas are booked solid.

I'm sure that your only viable option would be to look around for accommodations in smaller cities outside of Rio, rent there and bus into Rio for events. You might even find that difficult. I live in Macaé, which is 3 1/2 hours north of Rio and suggest you look around in Rio das Ostras or Macaé, you might still find something here.

You should be contacting realtors or travel agents, they would be the best source of local help here.

William,

is there a better chance to find something around Niteroi?

James

Not really, it's too close to Rio and will also be booked solid.
