I am working in the visa department for a human resource company. My workmate and I really want to do a good job.But we have a executive who barely come to the office. We don't have many customers now.And most of the customers are the executive's old customers. She may leave the office in October,it will make us in a worse situation. The big boss seems like to cancel our department sooner or later.I like this job,and I don't want to finish my first job like this.

Any advise?Or anyone know much about visa would like to be our executive?I would appreciate it so much.

Berry, what kind of a company are you employed at? Is it a travel agency? Or a large multinational company? Or a headhunter company?

berrylew

Hi Vikings,

This is a human resorce company in Shanghai, just like headhunter company. We sent labour to other companies.

But our department is a little bit different from the others. They mainly serve Chinese companies. And most companies they serve don't have many expatriate staff. So that make our depatment hard to servive in this company.

Hope you can give me some useful advice.

Hi Berry ,

Here,s a small solution for you

1>Try not to show your boss that you don,t have work.
2> Engage yourself in some other office task.
3>Ask your boss and discuss that how can we improve, this will show your care for your team.
4>Use social and professional networking platforms more actively and i am talking about the ones people use outside china.
5>Join a church as people there might refer you some clients

I hope the above things help you because if they don,t then you should start looking for a job with some travel agency .

cheers

But now we still need an visa executive. We've interviewed a few,but none of them suit this job well.If you know anybody in Shanghai who can do this please please tell me.

Thank you so much.

Hi Berry,

I agree with the above suggestions.

But...

Have you thought about being the executive? Or speaking with your present executive before she leaves about her position and how she found clients?
Perhaps you could do a little networking yourself with your current clients and find out if they have cooperations with other companies that employ many foreigners.
There are many employment websites where foreigners leave their resume in hopes of finding work too and many companies in need of foreign experts.
There is the website LinkedIn that is for professionals to network with each other. You could easily join and list your profession and the company you work for. There is a chance that members in need of foreign experts may approach you looking for foreign staff.
Look at the type of industries that require foreigners as well. Such as International schools, airlines (Shenzhen Airlines has many foreign pilots), engineering companies and so forth.
All I'm saying is; instead of looking for a boss to find you customers look for the customers yourself when you have time.

She worked as a visa specialist in a big service company for so many years. Most of the customers are served by her for so many times. So that takes time. But we will try.
The reason why I can't be the executive is I don't have enough visa knowledge. So we have to find someone who can solve problems that we can't solve.
Thank you for the suggestions.I will try them.
