Interested in moving to DR

Post new topic

Dejay

Hi, I'm new here;
I'm also interested in possibly moving to the Dominican Republic very soon. I am retired and a single Sr woman. I would be interested in affordable housing preferably in an expat community.  Also what is the danger of Hurricanes and prepardness?  Are there areas less prone? What about pets?

We moved to the DR two years ago (almost), and have not looked back. Have you been here before. If not, before packing and moving I would suggest a month or so in country to try it on. Depending on where you want to relocate there is plenty of housing, good expat communities, shops, restaurants and everything you need.  There are a couple of us here on this board so feel free to ask any specific questions. My wife and I are envolved in real estate here and would be glad to supply you with any information you might need.
Oh and getting a dog here is no "problema". No quarenteen or anything just a health certificate from you vet and a $10 fee (donation) to the authorites here. Our dog flys back and forth with us all the time.

Forgot to add here on the north coast we are sort of hurrican proof with no major storms in 40 some odd years.  Not the same on the south coast were they do have the occasioinal hurricane.
