Thea ,
If you are looking for furniture
This is a market where you will find antiques , replicas.

most of them come from all over the country
ethnic Indian artifacts from old palaces and mansions, cast iron lamps, garden benches ,trays ,etc

where :
Oshiwara old furniture bazaar
Oshiwara Bridge,S.V Road,
jogeshwari west

Dear Thea,
The market is at Jogeshwari,Mutton street(chor bazar) and few places such as Ghatkopar where the colonial and antique replicas are manufactured. But the best is to look for Zorastrians(parsees),east Indians who are shifting or otherwise and would like to sell their furniture. Also expats tend to buy such wooden furniture and sell it when they go back.if you still cannot get the originals or better ones pm me.
Best wishes,
Art

WOODEN FURNITURE :

You will have to see the types
nowdays nagpur teak is commonly used .burma teak , ghana teak , etc
also Indian weather,I would not recommend wood ,different in cooler climates
termites problem .

Thank you very much!

Dear friend,
Just log on to OLX.com and have a look, if u have time u will get wn idea of the proces and also u would be able to see the furniture and their condition and also have an idea about how much you should pay or the real value. Also try places near oshiwara, opposite raigad military school, there are few shops there and have new and old stuff, they also make customize furniture u can bargain with them.
P.S: just make sure u dont b like an expat or foreigner be like a local n im sure u will get the best deal.
