Hi ecarter,

You should really provide a bit more information about what you need.

Are you looking for just any kind of course or a Portuguese for Foreigners course such as is offered by USP (Universidade de São Paulo)?

Are you looking for a course that might qualify you for a VITEM-IV Student Visa or not?

If just a private course, what is your budget?

These are some of the things that would be important to know for anyone who might be willing to help you.

Thanks every one for answering me, actually, my daughter is 25 year old, we live and she is the one wanting to study Portuguese, we are looking for a University that will allow her to have a student visa, Mackenzie  at SP will do it if someone goes in person for registration, also she will be looking for a roommate or any other option possible; it does not have to be in SP, if any one knows any other public university in any other city and can help with registration, we will be happy; she is planning to start school in February 2014. Thanks for your help

James

Hi again ecarter,

I think you will find that not only will it be necessary for someone to attend any educational institution personally to arrange this course for you, but that the person will require a Power of Attorney (Procuração Simples) written in Portuguese in order to accomplish that task for you. If you check the website of any of the Brazilian universities offering Portuguese for Foreigners they all have this requirement. So, it's not going to be as simple as you think to find somebody to do it for you.

I presume that you don't have any relatives or friends in this country who would be able to assist you in this matter, since that would probably be the easiest way to go.
