Hi All,

We're a British organisation and we've recently set up a nursing home specialising in Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia care.

It was launched 4 months ago and the first of its kind on the Island.

I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences of elderly care in Sri Lanka, in order to better understand the market and how we can tailor our services.

There's been significant interest from expats due to the high cost of similar services in Europe and US and Sri Lankans living abroad but with parents or loved ones wishing to spend their twilight years in Sri Lanka.

Be great to hear your opinions/experiences.

I don't have dementia, but did act as caregiver to 2 friends with parkinson's and alzheimer. They had to go to assited living facility , eventually. I am 63 (ex-optician)and decided to return to college(at 60) to initally study biology(and alternative medicine).Inadvertently ended up in Neuroscience.Currently in 3rd year. This may take a while.I am in the U.S. I am of European lineage and have lived in 15 countries.I get along splendidly with Orientals and was married to one.I studied Sanskrit in studies of the Varnashramic system (India).Sri Lanka is Buddhist, rather than Hindu, but I have studied that as well.I am an ex-gymnastics athlete and thus keep in shape and realized the mind/body/spirit connection a long time ago.Sri Lanka and Laos are on my wish list.I believe Arthur C. Clark still resides in the former. The science fiction writer/inventor of the communications satellite.  franz zorn

Hi,
I am a City & Guilds trained senior care giver. my work in government sector, is totally different from caregiving, so I couln't have chance to give my service to seniors. If you want any help, I and my friends from our batch can support you as a service!

Hi Mal,

Thanks for your mail, I'd be keen to discuss more as we're looking for qualified people who can train our new staff in addition to taking on the day to day care requirements. Please PM me.

Best regards,

I have just retired from Government service in Sri Lanka and invested a large sum of money to develop my property which we inherited from our parents.  this is nearly 100 years old. All the furniture is very old and in excellent condition.
We have a large garden in a very quiet place with all the trees with beautiful country side.  It is not far  away from Hikkaduwa town and very close to the beach. If you are keen please log in to Lanka Property web and you can see it listred under Hikkaduwa.

We  have a lady standing in front of the house in one of our pictures.  She too stayed with us sometime back If you like to check this on the web and if you are happy please come back

Thanks,

Lacille de Silva

Hi,  I have just retired from Governmen service and I have developed my ancestoral property in Hikkaduw.  I have advertised in the lanka property web and you could develop this to a holiday home for expats.  I am very keen to do something  like  that as I have a large land area too.

I am a Buddhist and I do not know whether we can possibly help particularly those from Europe and other developed countries because they do not have the facility to keep even attendants because the wages are very high. May I know whether we can develop this to provide very good accommodation together with all the other facilities for about US $ 500 to 600

Thanks,

Kindest regards
