From Seoul to the US to El Salvador

Post new topic

Hi guys!

I think I'm the first on Expat-blog.com to be writing from El Salvador.  I was born in South Korea and was naturalized in the States with my parents when I was two.  I grew up outside of Philly, went to college in Manhattan and stuck around in that area until about a year and a half ago.

My husband started coming to El Salvador to surf about 5 years ago and then we got together in Jersey 3 years ago.  We decided to get married in El Salvador and once we were here doing that, well, it just seemed silly to go back to the States so here we are!  The weather is nicer here!!

We just "finished" building our house and are now getting ready to become first time parents...both things are proving to be quite a challenge with our limited Spanish, but that's what makes it FUN!

Hope you guys dig my blog.  Will try to be good about upkeep!

Welcome on board jvdoubledown!

Yes you are our first member in Salvador :)

What do you like the most in the country?

All the best,

Julien

Hi Julien,

My favorite thing about this country has to be the people.  I've met the kindest, friendliest, most laid back people in the world here.

You are an excellent moderator, by the way!  Keep up the good work!

Julien

Thanks mamajeanie!

I've just added el Salvador to the Expat.com directory, and Olivier will validate your inscription very soon.

Another country to visit :)

Hi jvdoubledown
I'm so happy to have read about some americans living in el salvador. I'm from maryland and about to move to el salvador with my boyfriend(who is from there) and have no idea what to expect. I've been to Mexico a lot and a few other island but I never know what to think. So if there is any advice with housing, jobs, safe areas, etc.. that would be so helpful. Since my boyfriend hasnt been there in 6 years he is a little unsure of what to tell me. So congraduations with your newest member of your house and thanks in advance.

Thanks
Rae
