Hello
I was in Afghanistan ( Kabul) for the previous 4 years and I had a great time working and living there. However, it is true that Indians and Indian assets are a high threat in Kabul and elsewhere; the Indian consulate has been attacked badly in 2009 or 10, and is often high on the 'threat list'. However you must know a lot of the threats and danger assessments are highly exaggerated; security professionals prefer their clients to remain holed up in their office or home, and not be allowed out to socialise or enjoy the sights Kabul has to offer. So, if you and your family wish to live mostly like in prison, that is what you will face. If you wish to explore the country and its people, which have a lot to offer, chances are , your job and international insurace will not allow it. there is a large Indian expat population in Kabul, so you would no doubt interact alot with them. I enjoyed the city a lot, but Im one of the few who can claim this. Probably because I was there as a free person and did not suffer un-neccessary security constraints. I am from Dubai, and quite frankly, you stand more chance to be killed on a road accident there, then ever having a life threatening experience happen to you in Kabul. regards, Mare
