Hello all

I have been in Rio  about a month in Copa. I am planning to be here for some time. I am finding the language very daunting and would like to meet others in a similar situation or just meet expats in general.

Would anyone be able to meet up or when are there gatherings?

Hello Harvey,

http://i1320.photobucket.com/albums/u531/wjwoodward/Welcome-banner.jpg

On behalf of the entire Expat-blog Team, welcome on board. I hope your participation here on the blog will be both enjoyable and informative.

I live in Macaé - RJ, about a 4 hour drive north of Rio. It's the Petroleum Capital of Brazil, all the big guns are here.

I'll be in Rio on Saturday morning and early afternoon. If you know where Shopping Botafogo Praia is (about a 15 minute bus ride from Copa) I'll be there around noon if you'd like to meet up for a coffee, Coca-Cola or a beer and chat before I rush back to Macaé. If so let me know and I'll send you a private message with my cellular phone number.

I've been living here in Brazil for over eleven years now. I teach English and also Portuguese for English speakers. Perhaps I can give you some tips on learning the language. Also you might want to check out my posting at the top of the first forum page, "Learn over a thousand Portuguese words in a few minutes". I know you'll find it extremely helpful.

Hi William

So sorry i did not make it. I tried and tried but in the end there was no way I was going to make it. It was 5:30 before I was able to detach and think about our engagement.

hey, I'm a new Brit in Rio myself, been here about 3 months now, trying to learn Portuguese but it's only coming slowly. Feel free to get in contact.

Hi pharmari,

You are invited to place your (free) ad in our Classified Section devoted to HOUSING which you will find in the menu on the left side of the page. It will get better exposure there since it will remain current, as opposed to here in the forum where it will continue to move toward the back pages as new topics are posted.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.
