Hi, can anyone help me?

I registered last week, and have introduced myself on the forum, got a couple of contact requests BUT I CANNOT INITIATE CONTACTS. I keep getting the same message,- I am not fully activated yet. Why not?? How long do I have to wait! I am dying to contact some new people .
I have also tried to contact the team about this but the security check keeps rejecting the code, I am getting really fed up. What's your experience on this?

Hi Sweeta, thanks for your reply. Actually, what I wanted to do was to send a contact request to one definite guy in my city and this is what I could not do!This person has not written on the forum lately, I just found him among the members in my city.

Any idea?
Cheers

Hello Hilda,

If you read any of the numerous topics regarding the private message system you would know that Expat-blog has an automated Anti-Spam System. It requires that new members "activate" their private message privileges. How? Simply by participating in the forums that way the system knows you're a real live person and not a SPAMBOT. This measure is to protect all of our members, including you, from spam, annoying, unwanted or unsolicited messages. Also the more you participate in the forums, the larger the capacity of your mailboxes becomes. The error message sent to new members who try to use the private message system is quite clear. All you need to do is to participate.

Actually, the private message system has nothing at all to do with private messages. If you click on the member's name this will open their profile. Once open, under the member's profile photo or avatar you will find "add to contacts". This sends a contact request independent from the private message system.

Hi William

Thanks for the prompt reply and the information.
Now I have more idea of how the system works. Actually, I thought that having to copy 3 by 3 (various patterns) into the 'verification box' was just enough to ward off spams.
Just to clarify things I would like to say that I DID participate and also I replied to a few contact requests.

My contact request seems to have been transmitted to that particular person, so I'll just wait patiently.

Kind regards,
Hilda

James

Hi Hilda,

Just so you know, one's private message privileges are not activated on their very first forum posting. The system requires a few to show you are participating. Your total postings to now are 5, with three of them being this topic alone. So you can see that you only actually had one or two when you couldn't send the original private messages.

It should all have been resolved now. Just don't forget the more you participate the greater the size of your mailboxes (inbox and sent) becomes.

Hi!

Your subject line should be short (less than 70 characters). Reduce it and send.  experience the same. This I found above the message box

Continue messaging to your friends.

rmhilda

ok, cheers.
