Spanish only for me

Post new topic

Hello all I am looking to relocate to a town or city in PR where I won't encounter very much English. Any suggestions??

Jayuya or Lares perhaps, but I found there are English speakers everywhere, really. In contrast, Panama is a good country to be around Spanish-only speakers.

I have been to several countries I would not feel safe bringing my 2 year old son to would panama be a safe place for him?

English is spoken all over the island. But not nearly to the extent that some people will have you believe. There are some areas where state-siders reside where English is spoken to a greater degree. Trust me, go just about anywhere on the island and all you will hear is Spanish. Most often you will only hear English when a Gringo is around. If you want a safe place for your 2 year old, PR wouldn't be a top choice. Maybe you haven't noticed all the talk lately about the increase in violent crime all over the island. Now, if you have substantial financial resources at your disposal, your life can be a little different than the average person. You don't have to speak a word of English there and many people don't. Because they can't or they can but choose not to.
