Does anyone know where I can get some (cheap) Kurtis/tunic tops made up and can I buy simple cotton material anywhere. Ideally both jobs done in the same place;  something similar to what they do in India. I don't need anything fancy! And obviously I'm not prepared to pay any sort of tourist price cos I may need more than one!

I'd prefer some sort of shop I could visit rather than anyone private just for security reasons. I'm based in the North but can visit Port Louis.

You will get them in the numerous Indian-theme shops and wedding galleries on the island. You can make a stop at Jetha Tulsidas or Hassamal in Port Louis.
However, I am not sure about the style you are looking for.

Mauritius is not big...so no need to restrict yourself to the North or Port Louis...you can get better items elsewhere!!
