This is why the American government needs to really consider two options and stop going back and forth.

1) Statehood
2) Succession

The people want statehood, and I hope they get it. The continental US robs the people of tax money and the people get no benefits. Statehood would fix that. Succession would be the ultimate slap in the face. The island would collapse in less than one year.
