external links & moderation

Post new topic

Julien

Hi everybody,

just a few words about links to external websites... We accept links posted from active members; we trust you guys, and we believe these links can help other members living in KSA ...

... this is quite different than new members who are only here to promote a particular website, blog, service and other stuff

Please note that the team and I are doing our best to keep an eye on every discussion, in order to prevent problems and provide quality.

We recently had the feeling that a few members registered here in order to promote their activity, as they systematically post external links. That is too much for us, we'll now drastically moderate.

We can arrange partnerships, sponsorship or other any kind of arrangement... But if you don't contact us and if we can't find a way to work together, you're a competitor, and you are not welcome to advertise for free on Expat.com.

Thanks for your comprehension,

Julien

That's how I see it, as well.

Julien has worked hard to give us this forum at no cost to us and these others have stepped in and, under the guise of helping expats, direct us to their websites for which they are being paid.

It's no different than a man standing in a restaurant, directing people to go to HIS restaurant down the street!!

I loveeeeeeeee the post,it shows your interest in your website, its not just ,u gave us a platform  to have fun and left us on our own,u keep putting your effort and keep the place clean so we can live here healthy [but not wealthy yet :lol::lol:]

Part of that moderating job relies on regular users.

Clicking on the "report" to let the admin know when we see something like this is helpful to them.

We admire and thank you for your hard work  :thanks:

...and Mr Stretch- next time I will make sure I press the Report button when I sense somethings not quite right here :)

Alliecat

I always report advertising because I find it so annoying.

Thank you for the informative post. What about copying articles from forum to member blogs. Is it correct as per policy?

mirzayasir4

So many days and no body replied to my query.

Julien

I am not sure to understand. Do you want to copy forum posts on your blog or the opposite ?

mirzayasir4

Yes, to copy a post from forum to my blog.
Not all, but only if there is some informative post.
Like making driving licence etc.

Julien

Well, as long as you link back to the original discussion (and thank the poster) I think it's ok ...

mirzayasir4

Thank you Julien, I'll follow the instructions surely.
