Hi,

About to have a baby or already had children? Let's share your experience about the paperworks for registering a birth in Tanzania.

What are the formalities to obtain a birth certificate?

What is the procedure to follow if both parents are of the same nationality or for a mixed couple?

Thank you in advance for participating,

David

I would love to hear some experiences anyway.. for example if I get a baby here with a Tanzanian, which nationality/passport will the baby have (my own or Tanzanian)? And how about family names in here, gets the baby the mums or dads name? Do I have to "inform" my home country that I got a baby (if yes, how)?

If the baby has been born in Tanzania, then automatically will be a Tanzanian by citizenship. Nationality and passport will be the one of Tanzania. In Most of Tanzanians cultures the baby's ownership and belonging remain to the partenals side. But there other minority cultures whereby the baby belongs to martenals side.
