Help, I need an accountant!

It's been said before but I would suggest you make an appointment with the expat section at the tax office in Floriana.
They are very helpful and if they don't know the in's and out's of the tax system then no one does! and its all free.

It's the VAT not tax so I'm not sure if they can help but I will try. The VAT office is not helpful, in fact, they have only hindered me into a complete mess, hence why I need an accountant.

I would contact then and explain what your problem is and that the VAT office are not being very helpful. They may clarify some of the problems or contact the VAT people on your behalf.
I have found them very helpful and happy to listen and explain (even filling in forms for you).

Ok thanks, it's mainly what costs/items I can claim back and which box they go in on the form...It might as well be a different language to me!

I am filing my first VAT return, too, Coxf0001, so any advice you can give us here once you figure it out would be more than helpful.  I read the instructions on the "How to file a VAT return" powerpoint, but you are right, it felt like reading a foreign language.
