Boarder run on my birthday :-)

Post new topic

Claire_

I'm living in Saigon and I need to do a boarder run. My visa just happens to expire one day before my birthday!! Anyone who has been to Cambodia, can you recommend where to head for where I can spend a great day (a mix of cultural sights and western comforts would be ace)!

Also I've never done this before or been to Cambodia. I'm going to research about what to do but if anyone has any tips or advice or things to avoid or links I'd be very grateful!

Thanks a lot!

"Border"

A boarder is a tenant in the house.

Oh, and happy birthday.

You can check with a travel place.  They may do it for you without leaving Saigon.

I think you can extend here without a run :D

It all depends on if the visa cant be extended.

Thanks for the spelling tip.

I have renewed my visa three times and the laws have just changed. I'm happy to go on a short trip for my birthday...does anyone have any advice regarding Cambodia please? :-)

Well you wont get your visa done at the embassy in a day unless you get there early and pay the extra fee. You can get a Cambodian visa at the border on your way to PP. Cambodia is fine, nice friendly people and you dont feel like your getting shafted all the time there. There are lots of nice places to eat and drink in PP, its only a small city so its easy to get around. Aloow yourself a few days as it takes 6 hours to get to PP, then you will need to lodge for a visa and come back when its ready. Then the trip back which is another 6 hours. I would allow at least 3 days minimum to do it all. One warning, you are a girl, dont walk around the  dimly light streets at night, there have been numerous attacks.Use common sense and you will be fine.

Happy to heard that :D
You can take a trip to Phnom Penh and visit 'Royal Palace, Museum, Wat Phnom, riverside(preferably after evening),etc. Then just go to the bus station and head to Siem Reap where you can visit the world heritage site - Angkor Wat Temple complexes and so on. Another attraction is Sihanouk Ville.
From Pham Ngu Lao street, Q.1 you may get the bus to the above places! Pay to the bus conductor for Cambodia Visa ($25).
