Pregnancy and delivery in Budapest

Two of our kids were born in Hungary in a public hospital and it went absolutely fine.  This was in a Sopron which is a training hospital for Debrecen University international medical graduates. Our doctor was from the Middle East, not Hungarian and could speak Hungarian and English to a reasonable level.  I can only say the service was better than just good. Some things about the location were not that good but survivable - food was not too great, the rooms were a bit cold etc. With support from outside, it's no problem medically but speaking Hungarian sure helps if you have to hang around the hospital for a week or two.

No idea on private. Can be done though. Same doctors at the hospitals have their private practices. Just ask them.
