All the best,

Cause we're all in Riyadh!

Please feel free to 'join' our city -- lots of questions/discussion pertain not just to Riyadh but to the Kingdom, in general!

musicman

You mean the NICE people are all in Riyadh, puddy tat?

Alliecat

That's common knowledge--no need to say it!

gerardc7

Loool Jeddah is the most liberal city in the kingdom. It is soo much fun. People in Jeddah are busy with lots of activities. For example, Yesterday I was in Sierra compound in a party with the Americans. They were celebrating 4th of July. It was soo much fun. and we were at the beach all day in the morning. Jeddah has private beaches for expats. They are soo much fun. Don't worry. The problem is that there are no people from Jeddah here on this blog. I hope people don't get a negative idea about Jeddah. Most of the people right here are from Riyadh. They are wonderfull. Sometimes I wish if I was there in Riyadh with them from the stories I here in this blog :) so Jeddah and Riyadh are nice cities :) I don't want Riyadh people to hate me loool anyway, The living expenses are not that bad. the Malboro pack is around SR6. avrage price for a good meal is around SR20. The most importany thing is where you live. Best place to stay is Sierra compound and the cost for a 2 room townhouse was SR95,000pa. You can still find cheaper in other compounds beggening of SR50000. Or not in a compund as low as SR15000, but in compunds you can be safe, comfortable, sochlize, and have some freedom :)

I hope that was useful

Thanx

gerardc7

Thanks Mojad, was wondering if you have any info for Thuwal...I think most of my time working will be in Thuwal...and most likely living as well...

mojad

yeah I have been there alot. I hope you will be working for KAUST.It is (50 miles) north of Jeddah. It is a small new modern city. It is not packed and crowded like Jeddah, but the future is there :) . You can always drive to Jeddah. It is like an a houre drive. BUT living in KAUST is a dream for me. thats why I said that I hope you will be working there. KAUST is like a land from the US or Euorope. women can drive inside and lots of other freedom that you can't get out of KAUST. anyway check out this link :

gerardc7

Hi Mojad, thanks for the info. I am not too sure if my new posting will be directly with KAUST or it would be one of the project that I will be giving the services. I have seen the web on KAUST and it is a massive and interesting project! How about you? What are you doing in Jeddah?

mojad

I work for a flight catering company that is located at Jeddah airport.

gerardc7

Hi Mojad, that's interesting and we are in the same industry! Good to know!!! Do you go for diving? Any info on this? Thanks!
