The field is huge, which makes the game extremely slow. it lasts 90 minutes (90 MINUTES!!) and you only get to see few points scored if even that.
And tell me, even if a point is scored, what's the real-life significance of soccer points*? How much of what soccer players can do is applicable outside the game?

* They are 'soccer points' I refuse to bestow upon them the dignity of the G word.
Mo, I have a feeling that you were never picked to play soccer as a kid and now harbour some animosity towards the sport...
And if 90 minutes is too long for you, then I don't recommend you EVER watch a cricket match!

Because my argument is so true, so powerful, no rebuttal could be put forth except one that feebly attempts to undermine my judgement and mental coherence.
At least I don't think shisha is food.

@moel:bla bla bla...

Touché, my friend, touché!
Though attacking my addiction is below the belt...
(whimpers behind his desk, shouting "WHY?!?!" at his shisha...)
Back to Thread. Football.
Friday Night. I'm in.
Can someone with some local contacts make some inroads into this. I looked in the Libyan Yellow pages but only found emptiness.

If I can cadge a lift I might be in.
If and might.
Meet me at Radisson reception and we'll go together Bolton.
What time?
One more guy from our company is coming so you hear 10.
MoEl you are welcome to join, maybe you will change your mind about football (or soccer if you like). But do not expect any of this:
hi guys..
i spoke with my libyan friend..
our location will be in janzour tourist village. there are a few soccer courts and it is easy to find..today or tomorrow i will get the time and exact place..
i think one hour sould be enough..what do you say?
10 minutes will probably be enough! Hour is fine by me.
Superb, will wait to hear from you for confirmation. Janzour is only 2/3Km from me.
Will try to increase troop numbers this week as inevitably there will be some natural wastage on numbers by Friday.

Besides, you're concentrating on one side of a multi-faceted argument.

Yeah, I may have been going back to The UK, doesn't look like it's going to happen this week, so I am in.
Whatever times best, decide when we have a definite start time. I don't even know how long it takes to get there mate.
Thanks, by the way.
I might need an ambulance back though

OK, A couple more and we have a bona fide 5-a-side.
2 libyan friend are also in..so we are ten now..
Ok let's leave Dahra at 4pm from Radisson. Should take 15-20 minutes.
Driver also plays, if he does not take us, which is likely, we will go by taxi which won't cost more than LYD10. My driver will translate directions if there is a language problem, will get him to write it down beforehand.
I have a works team but best we leave them out for now as they can be a bit competitive.
See you there.
I'd definitely like to join the group....but work commitments and business travel mean im unable to, till about November. Will ping this posting again then.

I wrote ten, several posts ago, so for sure it's more than ten. Since one more guy from my Company said he would come we are probably closer to 15 than to 10.

i think this is no problem..because most people need a brake after 10 minutes..the most guys here (me too) didnt play soccer since long term..in this small corner it is very hard to play one hour without brake..because the ball is always in the field..
therefore i think its better to have two or three people more..
this two Libyan organized the location..for the next matches they can stay at home..
Thanks, How much do we owe the organiser ?
is there any need for extra players????
Sladico wrote:Thanks, How much do we owe the organiser ?
the court fee will be paid by our company or a libyan sponsor ..
so it is for free this time..

What about the entrance to Touristic Village?
I know that they sometimes ask for some money at the gate. Do they do that recently or in low season they just let everyone in?
Sorry guys, I am out unfortunately. Somethings cropped up with work.
Is this really happening this afternoon?
I'll be heading to Janzour tourist village at about 4:20 from
Hay Al aquar. The new apartment on the airport road.
If anybody need a lift from here or on the way to Janzour
just call me at 091 728 0752

Just a quick note to thank Mustafa for sorting out the football, was great to have a kick around, even though I am still knackered.
Lets keep the interest up and reschedule for another time, I am also up for Snooker, Squash, anything that doesn't involve FOX Movies...
Cheers

eah it was fun, although I'm not really sure what was happening after 10 minutes of running...
I'm out of libya next two weekends but I'll try to arrange a substitute.
And if any other social activity pops out (such as MMA or bloody barbeque parties) count me in.
