Hello all!

We are moving to Brussels from Liège and recently found an apartment in Molenbeek (near metro Ribaucourt).  I've read that it is not a very safe area, but are there any fellow expats that can share their experiences living in the area?

Thanks in advance :)

Cheers,

Carly

Go and visit several times. If you have no kids, you like living in a built-up area which is not full of rich people, then it is probably fine for you. There are far worse areas of Molenbeek to live in.

good luck then . area is realy not safe and specially if u have children then u will have to be careful for them ; children need good and nice atmosphare for growing in respectable manners;  so perhapes you will  move to other part of bruxelles ;

Evangelos

its better to avoid this area

if u want cheap appartements in the good area of molenbeek search close to the Molenbeek Graveyard
"Cimetiere de molenbeek"in that area is good and u can find some cheap ones...

or close around to the area of Boulevard Louis mettewie...(thats the best area)

in general search for appartements close to the beekant metro not very close though because beekant metro its also
weird in the night sometimes,but in general everythings good at night, police of course helped for this the last months

I agree with Evangelos. Avoid Ribaucourt and Etangs Noirs area. Cimetiere Molenbeek, Karreveld, Prince de Liege are in Molenbeek, affordable and excellent area.
