How hard or easy is it to lead a life without a companion?

How do you choose one versus the next?

There are so many qualities and characteristics to consider before one is committed!!

Please shed some light on this subject!

This is a personal issue and depends on one person to another. Some doesn't like to get married or have a relationship. But most people like the family environment. They like to have a partner and have their own kids. Family life is a good thing. Living together makes some chores time to time when it happens two separate persons try to share life together in one house. But here you will have someone to share your good or bad issues in life. Specially if you get sick there will be someone to give you care. On the other hand, giving/receiving care is a happy thing for both parties. Everyone has this life one time friend! So it is your choice to decide your life. Tho some people says the 'married life is a burden' and when some divorced people say 'marriage' is a suffering- I say 'NO!" If you will meet the correct person to share your life.. it will be more interesting thing for you. You can not meet the 100% matching person in life. But if you meet someone with good qualities, you admire a lot- better to accept that love. Thereafter you will feel like a very responsible and caring person. Problems may come and go whether you are single or with a partner. So I agree- it is very good to have a partner to share your life.

I think a partner is definitely important....

I got by without a partner for 18 years after the breakup of my first marriage. I had many good female friends but am glad that I chose to remarry and have children.
Being in a relationship is not for everyone and some choose not to.
Any relationship is a compromise and needs input and sometimes hard work by both parties.

They are called monks and nuns.
They pay for their beliefs.  Everybody is free to choose what price to pay in life.

In St. Lucia, most nuns are expat nuns.  I have not seen monks or expat monks here. :/

I always say: you can not live with or without them.
You need people around you.
What ever you choose for a life partner or friends, it depends what you want or need.

I can not imagine myself without my wife

If you are single you can say - it is good to live alone but if ever you have lived with a partner once you may for sure realize what a great support in life to have a partner. You must be so lucky to have a partner and a family.

Anil--It will be really hard to lead a life without a companion because we are interrelated....any one can say i am not with comapanion but he/she must be having friends.....to fill that gap,but not necessarily they will be in that relation like life partners....

How do you choose one versus the next?

Anil--They are made for each other so no question of choice....

There are so many qualities and characteristics to consider before one is committed!!

Anil--Basically when we know what we are looking for that makes us more clear about all which we have to do...whatever may be the qualities and characteristics Man and Woman get birth with sex energy and once a period comes they start searching.....one can be suppressed his or her desire of sex but he/she cannot be able to fight with the nature.....and committment is nothing but security of his or her...so if someone want his/her own security committ yourself with certain things ......

Hi Adauto, :)
It is not clear to me what you are trying to do: are you advertising your imagination here or your wife.
You speak so highly about her all the time.

Hi,
I at times go on for months in the oceans, I think a marriage may not be the answer but then you do need a companion, a woman. And this companion comes with the institution of marriage in our society.

One can live without a partner, but why?  Humans are social animals.  We do better when we are in relationships with others.  Whether these relationships are sexual in nature is less important than that they are intimate.  It's far too easy to be alone and very lonesome.  Those most isolated try using money and things to fill the gap.  There's never enough stuff to substitute for love.

I agree with you Gringo but life's highest and ultimate truth achieved by being  alone.....

Define "lifes highest and ultimate truth"????

Hi there, :)

1). One can live without a partner very well so he could have ample time to work.
Partners, especially the 'weak' sex, bring only problems to the table and have nothing to offer.

2). No, we do not do better when we are in a relationship.
All creativity disappears under tons of false pretentions, worries on late home coming, petty talk, boring atmosphere, everyday the same old thing with nothing really new and exciting, etc., etc. ...

3). It's not easy to be alone, but if you work on great things, it's the only way to be.
There is always a trade-off involved somewhere ...
No man is admired, feared or respected for his wife and kids.  :D

To Know GOD....to know where we came from and after death where we will go....what will not die even after the death....to know one's inner being.....

Well to answer this question have you ever been with or without someone? If you haven't been with someone it will be hard for anyone of us to really tell you that it's okay not to be with someone. Everyone is different. So you have to try and see for yourself. But if you've been with someone and you think you can't really deal being with them then perhaps you shouldn't. Just don't get yourself discourage for one person. There is plenty of fish in the sea. :)

Yes, one can do without the other.
For men, a man who stays without a woman is a gay man.
For women, a woman who stays without a man is a lesbian.

It looks simple, but in reality it's complicated.
