Lyse Doucet's documentary on the Street Kids of Afghanistan on BBC World TV was extremely moving.

I have sent her a message on Twitter (@bbclysedoucet) seeking her cooperation to find a suitable way of providing food for the litle ten year old gal Nargis and her family.

Will post the details once I hear from her. It is my own intent to try and send Nargis at least SR 500 per month through Lyse and the BBC if they can provide me a means of achieving this. God Willing!

Please see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fm_zYoLfVA

I am sure others may also want to help once they see the clip above.

If we do get a positive resp[onse from Lyse and the BBC maybe we can organize a goup collection that could be sent to Afghanistan for the upkeep of this family. True enough there are many thousands more who need similar assistance. But we can only do wahst possible within our own dimension.

If we can alleviate litle Nargis's situation I am sure it will be a tremendous achievement all the way from KSA.

Views please?

I have already been able to obtain committment from a few colleagues at work to collect a sum of SR 500 from my end. Will send this to Lyse once she gets back to me on the modality of how to send the remittance and to whom. This may provide Nargis and her family with some bread on a continuous basis, hopefully.

An organization within Afghanistan, with its offices in the USA, called ASCHIANA is already involved in trying to relocate the street kids into schools and also provide them with various other needs. See this link:-

We could work with them too.

At least we can now be assured that Nargis, her Mum and her siblings will not have to beg for bread. Thank God for that!

Lets hope we can do the same for other similar families in the future, too. Thanks for your response.
